The Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-6435SLV is a mid-range classic notebook with impressive capabilities and a good number of features for the price range it sits in. The people at Dell have made just enough compromises to keep the price down, but also deliver a great portable device.
The Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-6435SLV we’re reviewing has a dual core, fifth generation Intel i7-5500U processor, 8 GB of installed system memory and a storage capacity of 1 terabyte on a mechanical hard disk drive. Combining a fast processor with an adequate amount of system memory means the Dell will run most programs and apps with ease, but won’t benefit from having stellar booting times or impressive multitasking capabilities due to not being equipped with a solid state drive. Unfortunately, the graphics card is integrated, so playing resource demanding games is out of the question with this Dell Inspiron notebook.
The impressive touchscreen features a 15.6″ display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It will display full HD movies on the screen and on larger displays through the HDMI port. Also it comes with nice features you wouldn’t expect from a device in the under $800 price range: backlit keyboard, USB Sleep-and-Charge technology, 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi card, Ethernet, a DVD-Writer and a great battery pack that will hold a charge for up to 7 hours!
Size and weight are normal for an everyday laptop. I wouldn’t take the Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-6435SLV on long trips, but I would take it to college, or to work, or just keep it around the house to act as a media center, an internet browsing machine and a document and photo editor. It will execute everyday tasks that an average user may throw at it effortlessly.
